Born: Flint, MI — October 17, 1956 • Drafted: 1976 • Islanders: 1980–1989

Ken Morrow holds a place in sports history unlike any other American player. In February 1980 he was a member of the "Miracle on Ice" U.S. Olympic gold medal team at Lake Placid — one of the greatest upsets in sports history. Just weeks later he joined the Islanders and won his first Stanley Cup. He went on to win four consecutive Cups, a dynasty record for American-born players at the time. A stay-at-home defenseman known for his physicality and reliability, Morrow was exactly the kind of player championship teams are built on.
