Bryan Trottier was the engine of the Islanders dynasty — a brilliant, complete two-way center who could do everything. He won the Hart Trophy as NHL MVP in 1979 and the Conn Smythe in 1980. The pivot on the famed Long Island Lightning Line alongside Bossy and Gillies, Trottier set a single-season record with 87 assists in 1978–79. After his Islanders career he won two more Stanley Cups as a veteran with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is sixth all-time in NHL career points.
