Tomas Jonsson was a skilled Swedish defenseman who contributed to the 1982 and 1983 championship teams. An offensive-minded blueliner with a smooth skating stride, he provided puck-moving ability from the back end. He was part of the Islanders' commitment to European talent that predated much of the rest of the NHL. His two Cup rings came in his first two NHL seasons.
